Brunello at Vinitaly 2019

17,300 wines showcased, presented by over 4,000 producers from 35 different countries, and Tuscany as the most represented region with 677 wineries, 25% of which are in Montalcino. These are the first numbers to come from Vinitaly 2019 (www.vinitaly.com), the world’s biggest international wines and spirits show in terms of exhibition area (100,000 sq. metres), on in Verona from 7 to 10 April. Numbers that show how the event, now in its 53rd year, has grown, with all exhibition space having already been sold out as early as last November.

As is traditional, OperaWine, the Grand Tasting organized together with American magazine, Wine Spectator, will take place in Palazzo della Gran Guardia on 6 April, the day before Vinitaly opens. The 103 Italian wines in the list of prestigious invitees include six Brunello di Montalcino (from Baricci, Lisini, Livio Sassetti, San Filippo, Canalicchio di Sopra and Eredi Fuligni).

Brunello will, of course, also be a key player at Vinitaly, with 164 wineries (+20% over 2018), many of which will be located in the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino area in Hall 9, Tuscany. Over 800 sq.m. divided into five booths (B4, B5, B6, B7 and B8), including the consortium’s space (booth B6) and the sub-stands of 62 Montalcino producers. The Consortium will organize tastings exclusively for selected trade visitors, as well as visits and appointments with buyers and foreign delegations from all over the world, in collaboration with Vinitaly International.
